The Women Behind the Experiences
It started with connection.
Susie Streelman founded Zero Proof Experiences with a simple belief: life without alcohol didn’t have to get smaller. In fact, it could get quite a bit bigger.
What began with an alcohol-free dinner in Long Beach grew into Sober in the City events, travel experiences, and new ways for people to gather, connect, and have a really good time.
Then Susie met Peggi Cooney.
Peggi had discovered something similar in her own alcohol-free life. After years of believing alcohol was central to fun, confidence, and connection, she began discovering the genuine joy and presence that were possible without it.
From the night they met, something clicked.
Together, Susie and Peggi shared a vision for the kind of spaces they both wished had existed when they began exploring life without alcohol—places where alcohol wasn’t the center of the experience, but connection, friendship, laughter, and fun absolutely were.
What started as a shared idea between two women who wanted something different has grown into Sober in the City events, ZPE Connect, unforgettable travel experiences, and a community of people discovering just how big life can be.
And they’re just getting started.

Sober in the City
More reasons to gather.
It started with a pretty simple desire: We wanted to go out to dinner.
Not stay home. Not settle. Not spend the evening explaining what was—or wasn’t—in our glass.
We wanted the whole thing. A beautiful table. Great food. Elevated drinks. People worth lingering over dinner with. A reason to dress up. A night that might end on the dance floor.
Five years ago, our first Sober in the City dinner party brought that idea to life in Long Beach. Today, that dinner is still the heart of every Sober in the City weekend.
People come from all over. Some arrive with friends. Some arrive knowing absolutely no one. Some are excited. Some are brave.
And then we gather.
We eat. We talk. We laugh. We hear from people with something worth saying. We celebrate. We make connections that last long after everyone goes home.
Friendships have started here. So have book clubs, collaborations, businesses, trips, and entirely new chapters.
This is how we shift the way people gather.
Zero Proof Travel

There was a moment on a beautiful trip through Italy when Susie sat down to lunch and found five empty wine glasses waiting at her place.
At that point, she’d already made it through several days of wine tastings with a lot of water and good humor. That day? She was done.
So she picked up the water pitcher and filled every single wine glass in front of her. Problem solved. There’s even a photo.
It’s funny now. It wasn’t particularly funny then.
Because even in an extraordinary place, on an otherwise extraordinary trip, there’s nothing especially luxurious about repeatedly having to say, “No, thank you.”
We knew travel could feel different.
Our first international non-alcoholic wine experience brought us to Germany, where winemakers welcomed us into a world they’ve been helping to shape for years.
We tasted. We learned. We traveled beautifully. We met the people pushing wine in new directions—and discovered how much more interesting the experience becomes when nobody at the table is an afterthought.
It was, in our highly scientific assessment, 15 out of 10.
