Week 1 — Facilitation 101: Foundations of Great Meetings

  • What facilitation truly is (and what it’s not)
  • Facilitation vs. simply running a meeting
  • Core principles of effective facilitation:
    • Process over content
    • Creating psychological bravery
    • Traits of strong facilitators
  • Group reflection on meetings that worked — and those that didn’t

Week 2 — It’s All About Asking Good Questions

  • Why questions matter more than answers
  • Types of questions that move conversations forward:
    • Opening thought questions
    • The Three Questions
    • Reflection questions
    • Solution-focused questions
  • Avoiding the “advice trap”

Week 3 — The Facilitator’s Toolbox

  • Navigating common meeting challenges:
    • Dominant voices
    • Quiet voices
    • Low engagement
    • The gift of silence
  • Practical tools you can use immediately:
    • Opening scripts
    • Format and flow
    • Intentional questions
    • Visuals and music

Week 4 — Practice & Integration

  • Volunteer participants facilitate a short meeting segment:
    • Opening the meeting
    • Guiding discussion
    • Using questions intentionally
    • Managing group dynamics
    • Closing with clarity
  • Peer and instructor feedback
  • Reflection: What will I take into my next real-world meeting?
